From Sarah: I absolutely loved this one! Yes, it was fun and I was fascinated by the inside look at Singaporean culture, food and how the wealthy live. But I was more intrigued by the social and family dynamics involved in this giant cast of characters. I watched the movie, but it played more like a typical, “Monster-in-Law” kind of trope, where I thought the book went much deeper into the effects of generational wealth, tradition and social status. I 100% recommend this one!
